“ My favorite Afghan restaurant in DMV area. It has a very authentic Afghan taste and the environment is very cozy and nice. The ashak is my favorite meal here. The other apprizers and entrees are also very good. I would go here any day for authentic Afghan food. The owner is also a very nice and welcoming. ”

“ one of our favorites. We've eaten there many times and enjoy the variety of dishes and unique flavors. Dor Niaz is a terrific host. We look for to our next visit. ”
“ The best meal I've had in years! (I had the delicious lamb) The food was fresh and fantastic!! The ambiance was wonderful. Service was fast and friendly! Overall, an amazing experience! ”
“ We went there in the afternoon. I love the environment. It is a small mom & pop restaurant. Environment was friendly. Food was excellent. Must try. Service was good and I would highly recommend if someone is looking for Afghan food. ”
“ Cozy Afghan restaurant with an extensive menu, a very friendly owner, and amazing food. I came here on a Friday for lunch with my friend. The place was dead empty, but we still had a great meal and experience . We split a chicken dish and their special (a beef short-rib dish). Both were delicious, but the short-rib was the better of the two because it came with a bunch of sides (the chicken only came with a side of rice) Also have a patio outside ”
“ There are many Afghan restaurants in the DC area, however many of them are Afghan just by name, i.e. - serving a very limited of Afghan food, mainly kebobs. Zamarod stands out to the contrary: the variety and flavors are totally unique and delicious. We opted for two entrees - Kadu Palow, Combo Kebob, and and a side - Banjan instead of an appetizer - turned out to be a very good choice. The Kadu Palow - Sautéed Pumpkin with chunks of lamb in tomato sauce on a layer of spinach rice and yogurt: the chunks of lamb melted in the mouth, and the accompanying ingredients joined to a symphony of really unique flavors like we haven't experienced before. The Combo Kabob consisted of grilled chicken, leg of lamb, and lamb chops, all grilled to perfection, soft and tasty on a bed of basmati rice with sumac. Along with the side of sautéed eggplant with Yogurt and tomato sauce we were treated to a bounty of delicious meal, that rendered us incapacitated by the end. Yet we couldn't resist trying the cardamom tea and a baklava (large, one was enough to share between us). Serving portions are very generous, prices are reasonable for this kind of a restaurant, presentation is delightful, and if you show respect to the owner (and patience waiting for the food) you will be rewarded with a hearty smile, as we received in our visits there. We'll be back soon! ”
“ Love this place ! Delicious food and great owners ! Never disappoints. Dine in or carry out. ”
